Seahawks Navigate Injuries as Geno Smith Plays Through Elbow Issue, Rookies Step Up in Starting Roles

SEATTLE (AP) — Despite facing limitations in practice this week due to an elbow injury, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith actively participated in Thursday night’s game against San Francisco.

Smith sustained a triceps contusion near his elbow during last Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams. While he was restricted during Seattle’s light practice on Tuesday, he fully engaged in Wednesday’s session.

The Seahawks encountered challenges with the absence of starting running back Kenneth Walker III, who was sidelined due to an oblique injury. Additionally, veteran defensive end Frank Clark was a healthy scratch. To fill the void, rookie Zach Charbonnet was poised to make his debut start at running back.
